Culture refers to human activity; different definitions of culture reflect different theories for understanding and for valuing human activity. This category contains things such as virtual art galleries, paintings, museums, photographs, other visual representations and cultural customs.

URLs that provide information on illegal drugs used for recreational rather than medical purpose.

Web pages that allow you to send and receive text, HTML, images and other data files from one person to another via computer.

Contains URLs that reference, discuss, or show pornography, pictures, videos, or sexual oriented material. This will include nudity, soft and hard-core pornography, sadomasochism, bestiality, child porn, fetishes, stories, adult magazines, toys or any sexual related purchase etc.

Sites in this category may include things like gay and lesbian discussions, transgender groups, vegetarianism, naturism etc.

Self help is when an individual or a group betters themselves economically, intellectually or emotionally. This category includes URLs that deal with either medically, organically or support-based subjects that will improve an individual. This category ranges from therapies to support groups.

Search Engine // BACK
A search engine is software that helps web users to search the Internet using keywords. Some search engines work by automatically searching the contents of other systems and creating a database of the results, and other search engines contains only material manually approved for inclusion in a database, and some combine the two approaches.

Safe Search // BACK
Forces the Safe Search filtering feature for the following search engines - no effect on other search engines. Safe Search effectively blocks most sexual content from appearing in search results. The search engines supported are: Google, Yahoo, Metacrawler, Excite, and Lycos. If the Search Engine category is blocked, no search engines are allowed, regardless of whether this category is selected or not. Search engines must be allowed for safe search to work.

Proxy Anonymizer // BACK
Category contains known or suspected sites that allow a user to make their identity or location as they browse.

Under Construction // BACK
Indicates a site that identifies itself as being incomplete or ”Under Construction “.

General // BACK
When a URL does not meet any of the above categories, it is deemed as safe since it does not contain any offensive material. Do not turn this category on unless you are blocking based on Allow List only.

Redirector Page // BACK
category contains known URLs that only redirect the browser to another page. Do not turn this category on unless you are blocking based on Allow List only.

Banner Advertisement // BACK
This category includes sites which are dedicated to banner advertisements or distribution of banner advertisements.

Intranet Servers // BACK
The Intranet Servers category indicates the remote server is not located on the Internet.  The Netsweeper categorization servers will not be able to scan these sites for content.  These are normally servers located behind firewalls and on your local area network.

Host is an IP // BACK
The Host is an IP category indicates the requested host is in the form of an IP.  This means the DNS or host name was not used.  It is possible this type of request could override content filtering settings.  Examples of this would be http://66.207.120.231 which is actually http://www.netsweeper.com.

Malformed URL // BACK
Indicates a URL that is not correctly formatted and may be invalid.

No Text // BACK
The No Text category indicates that there is no content to properly categorize this page.  This typically indicates a web site that uses graphics and other non-textual information.

Directory // BACK
Directory sites consist of listings of files and directories. These can be images, movies, applications, or any type of file. Each individual file contained within the listing will be assigned a specific category once requested.

Images // BACK
Category contains any web page that is only a graphic. There is no text.

CNS is Busy // BACK
The CNS Is Busy category indicates that the Category Naming Services are too busy to respond to user requests.

CNS is Unavailable // BACK
The CNS Is Unavailable category indicates that the Category Naming Service cannot be contacted and is temporarily unavailable. This can be caused by Internet connectivity issues or other technical reasons. Categorization of new content will be unavailable until the problem has been corrected.

New URL // BACK
New URL indicates the content has not yet been scanned by the categorization engine.  Once the request has been made, the categorization engine will scan the site and assign it the appropriate category.
